How We Choose Our Staff
YTS is a participant-driven program. We encourage attendees with any level of musical experience to drive the weekend by suggesting or leading workshops and by gathering for impromptu music sessions and conversations. Participants can look forward to musical exchanges and collaboration with one another. Our staff help to build our community knowledge and are resources for our participants. We hire staff who can share their expertise in specific traditional folk genres and the contexts of those song traditions.

- genders
- ages
- community spirit
- involvement in other events, particularly as teachers or session leaders
- ability to provide historical context and demonstrate traditional delivery or styles of singing in addition to the traditional songs themselves.
