Volunteering to lead a workshop is one of the best ways make Youth Traditional Song Weekend a success! You can lead a session focusing on a particular type of song, discussing some aspect of the tradition or performance, or working to help each other improve our skills. We’d especially love for people to lead sessions with some sort of theme, i.e.
whaling songs
Scottish songs
cross-dressing songs
songs with funny choruses
a session where you come up with some far-fetched link between your song and whatever was sung previously
Workshop leaders are strongly encouraged to fill out the Workshop Description Form by [DATE]. [LINK FOR WORKSHOP SUBMISSION FORM]
Then, plug your workshop title and your name into one of the yellow grid spaces in this schedule grid: [LINK FOR GRID]
If you sign up to lead a workshop by [DATE], your workshop description will be posted on the website, printed in the program, and sent out to attendees ahead of time.
If you don’t sign up ahead of time, you can still lead a workshop! Once you arrive at YTS, you can put your workshop down for an empty time slot on the schedule. However, it will be not listed in the program.
Workshops will fill a 50 minute time slot. Feel free to lead a workshop as a group, or to lead more than one workshop (fill out a separate form for each one). If you’d like to lead a workshop with someone else but need to find a co-leader, and we’ll see if we can connect you with someone.
Workshop descriptions will be posted on the website as we get them, so take a look at what’s already there, but it’s fine if a few workshops share the same general theme, especially if they each cover different aspects.
If you need any workshop materials, please plan in advance. You will not be able to print or make copies at the event itself.
Contact the committee at [email protected] if you have any questions.
